Welcome!

Welcome! My name is Ayden Fetters, I am currently involved in academics and sports at Southwest Baptist University. I am looking to graduate with a degree in sports business in hopes of a career in sports in the near future. While outside of the class room I take on the every day challenge of being a student-athlete. I am involved with the SBU Baseball team and have been playing for SBU since my freshman year (currently a junior). Being a student-athlete can be challenging but certainly not impossible! This blog should be a little insight on what it is like to be a student athlete at the division 2 level.

The Journey and The End

Over the course of this class there has been many different discussions and topics about different tactics and tips when creating a marketing campaign. Going over all of the information from the past blog post to this one right now, there has been so many things I have taken away from the articles I have read for every blog post. Being a Business Administration Major, these weeks allowed me to gain information that I can move forward with that will help me in my future career and path in life. Here are some of the main ideas I have taken away:

Takeaways:

1.  There are many platforms and sources to market your business through

  • Over the course of this blog, there have been multiple weeks of conversation that involved a specific app, website, or source that allowed you to create certain ads or campaigns in order to showcase your business. I learned about new ways and types of media that your business can use in order to drive their business views on their ads and their campaigns. One of the biggest learns for me was the use of Google Ad displays. I have seen and identified these ads before but never put a label on them for "google ad displays" and understand that if I was in business that I could create these displays as well. One of the other medias that could be used was Canva. I was drawn to this week because I actually use Canva in my own work and it was interesting to see how other businesses use Canva and how beneficial it can be for those looking to minimize their cost when creating their ads. Starting a business is always an option in my mind for my future, and learning all of these ways of being able to create ads and viewers will be a helpful key.

2.  Maintaining customer satisfaction is a priority
  • Each article I read, a common theme was satisfying customers with their satisfaction. There were many different ways I read that businesses go about maintaining customer satisfaction. One of the main ways businesses do this is through customer surveys and responses. Businesses prioritize their customer satisfactions by reading their feedbacks and comments about certain deals like new products, ads, and promotions. While maintaining customer satisfaction during the process a business can also look to maintain the satisfaction before the product is even released. Businesses review their customers and potential customers to get information on what would satisfy their customers that way when they release their products or campaigns they are already built around the satisfaction of their customers.
3.  Keywords drive success
  • One of the bigger things I learned from the last few weeks of reading is the importance of keywords. I have actually experienced using keywords to find certain businesses when looking for new products. Being on the customer side of keywords, I can say they are super beneficial from a new customer standpoint. When searching for new business, the keywords would help me discover the specific business needs I was looking for. Once I started learning that businesses actually conduct their own keywords, it really opened up my eyes to the importance of discovering the specific keywords that best suite your business. Once you find the keywords for your business, you are able to conduct a strong search engine status to drive more viewers and customers to visit your business.

Me and my best buddy, Jax.

My Future and Reflections:

  • This course has built my business knowledge and has brought a new perspective on my marketing and advertising viewership. Before taking this class I viewed marketing and creating ads as a super extreme task and one that could be hard for those creating their first business. But, after learning more about the opportunities for small businesses to generate their own customizable ads and campaigns, it drew a different outlook on the marketing side of business. My thoughts about ads and ad campaigns have also been changed greatly, with a deeper understanding of how ads and ad campaigns are created through it drives a better understanding of the messages behind each. I also now have a better sense and respect for businesses when they create their new ads and displays. The new knowledge and respect I have gained has drove a new sense of enjoyment when it comes to the business world. I enjoy the works of business and the ins and outs of how businesses run their day to day routines. With the new knowledge of marketing, it has added to my business enjoyment by adding a new level of knowledge and insight.

Conclusion:

  • I have enjoyed the weeks of creating this blog. I wanted to thank you for partaking in reading my blog over the last few weeks. It has been a pleasure to learn more information on marketing and business work while expanding my information on the topics. Thank you for your time!

  1. Hi, Ayden! First off, Jax is adorable and deserves all the pets. Second, I really enjoyed your wrap-up. I’m a sucker for articles with clear headings and language that is a perfect balance of professional, academic, and casual. I also love that you included a sign-off and a thank you to your readers—that is something I did as well and am glad to see I wasn’t the only one. The takeaway where you mention how difficult you thought advertising would be to a baby business is incredibly relatable. I had the same feeling, even as I move to start my own business, of just the immense difficulty of creating and sharing those ads. It is so nice to know that it doesn’t have to be like that!
